From the very beginning, Commissioner Burt Saunders—then serving as a Florida State Senator—played a pivotal role in the founding of Neighborhood Health Clinic. His guidance and advocacy were instrumental in helping the Clinic’s founders navigate and support the passage of the Sovereign Immunity Law in Florida, a key piece of legislation that enabled the Clinic to begin serving uninsured, low-income adults with dignity and quality care. Today, Commissioner Saunders continues his steadfast support by highlighting the Clinic’s mission and milestones in his District 3 newsletter, helping spread awareness and inspire community involvement.
