Neighborhood Health Clinic Fact Sheet
501(c)3 not-for-profit organization created in 1999 and governed by a volunteer board of directors comprised of community leaders.
No duplication of existing local services, e.g., Collier County Health Department provides services for pregnant women and children, HIV, AIDS, and Tuberculosis.
Clinic founders, Dr. Bill and Nancy Lascheid, have received local and national recognition for this model approach to grassroots healthcare.
Florida Statute G766.1115 provides malpractice protection for all Clinic healthcare volunteers, including Florida licensed physicians and nurses.
NHC patients, the working poor who choose work over welfare, are men and women employed in food services, child and adult care, construction, pool and lawn services, and housekeeping work in our community.
Clinic hours for patients are Monday and Thursday evenings and alternate Saturday mornings to accommodate patients' work schedules. More than 200 patients are treated in a typical week.
Six (6) full time employees support the efforts of more than 500 volunteers - approximately 250 physicians, 100 nurses and 150 non-medical personnel.
Annual budget is $1,103,690 for FY 10/1/09-9/30/10 and funded solely by the community through individual donations, the United Way, foundation grants, businesses, religious groups, and civic organizations. The Clinic does not accept any government funding.
Patients make a contribution of $20 at the time of each visit. New patients contribute $30 for their initial evaluation and treatment. Patients who do not qualify for care are offered a list of other local options. The Clinic is located on a countywide bus route to accommodate patient travel.
NHC offers:
